Dr Marta Beauty Aesthetic Clinic

Photofacial

It is a photo-rejuvenation treatment that uses AFT technology, an advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and the best available on the market, aimed at eliminating signs of aging, pigmented and vascular lesions.

This treatment improves skin texture and tone, reverses sun-induced lesions (hyperpigmentation), controls the signs and symptoms of rosacea, treats vascular lesions, and reduces the appearance of enlarged pores, giving your face a healthier, more youthful, and radiant appearance.

Treatment

At Dr Marta Beauty Clinic, we use Alma® Harmony technology, which offers us two treatment handpieces, depending on the type of lesions being treated:

AFT 570, for the treatment of pigmented lesions:

Pigmented lesions can be effectively removed through selective photothermolysis of the melanin chromophore present in the skin. This result can be achieved using the AFT 570 handpiece, which focuses its energy emission into a 570nm beam.

Since the most important energy absorption peaks are found within this beam, the light will be absorbed by the pigment, leading to its elimination.

This handpiece operates in a traditional manner, positioning the handpiece over the area being treated and applying only one pulse at a time, using higher power levels.

Dye VL, for the treatment of vascular lesions:

The Dye-VL handpiece is an intense pulsed light handpiece with special technology that concentrates energy emission into a very narrow light beam between 500 and 600nm, and it includes an integrated cooling system. This concentration of photons within that wavelength range makes this mode extremely effective in treatments where the chromophore is hemoglobin, since the energy absorption peaks are found within this beam.

Another distinguishing feature, compared to other technologies that use pulsed light, is that this handpiece offers two operating modes:

VL Mode (static mode): operates in a traditional manner, positioning the handpiece over the area being treated and applying only one pulse at a time, using higher power levels, and is only performed on skin with lower phototypes (lighter skin tones).

SVL Mode (dynamic mode): works through a continuous movement of the handpiece over the area being treated, accumulating several consecutive pulses using lower frequencies, and can be performed on all skin types as it is more selective.

After the treatment, the skin begins its natural healing and regeneration process.

It is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the area to be treated and, without causing damage, the light penetrates the superficial layers of the skin.

Photofacial is effective on all skin types (depending also on the handpiece used during the treatment) and provides a complete solution for:

Eliminating dark spots:

  • Solar lentigines
  • Ephelides (freckles)
  • Nevus (moles)
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • "Café-au-lait" spots

Eliminating pink and/or vascular spots:

  • Telangiectasia
  • Rosacea
  • Couperose
  • Angioma
  • Spider veins
  • Flushing (skin redness)
  • "Port-wine" stains

Between 60 and 90 minutes. The treatment begins with a deep skin cleansing and extraction, followed by the pulsed light treatment.

No. Most patients report feeling only a mild sensation of warmth.

The handpiece also has an integrated cooling system, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the treatment.

Yes. Rigorous clinical studies and scientific publications worldwide confirm its effectiveness and safety.

This treatment has no side effects and leaves no marks on the skin, allowing you to resume your daily routine immediately after the treatment with complete normality.

4–6 initial sessions should be carried out monthly. Results are visible from the very first session.

The results are permanent in treating imperfections that already exist on the skin. However, this treatment does not prevent the appearance of future signs of aging or sun-induced lesions.

It is important to have a daily skincare routine, particularly the application of sunscreen, and maintenance is recommended every 3 months to preserve the results.
