Ultherapy®

What is?

Ultherapy® is an innovative, non-surgical and non-invasive technology that uses the energy of focused high-power ultrasound, which aims to heat skin tissue at different depths, triggering a natural healing response leading to the formation of new collagen.

It improves elasticity and reduces sagging skin on the face, neck and décolleté, in order to achieve the desired lifting effect.

The Dr Marta Beauty Clinic was the first clinic in Portugal to acquire this treatment, and so far it is the only one that offers its patients the Ultherapy® treatment.

How it works?

Unlike laser and radiofrequency treatments that act on the most superficial layer of the skin (penetrating the skin from the outside in), Ultherapy® acts on the deepest and most structural tissues of the skin in which the regenerative and healing process occurs, as well as facial musculature level, working from the inside out.

Ultherapy® has three transducers with variable depths – 1.5mm, 3.0mm and 4.5mm – for different areas of the face, neck and décolleté, offering a more effective result. Each shot causes an increase in the temperature in the skin tissue up to 70 ºC, creating points of retraction that cause small lesions that form a scar in the deeper layers of the skin, promoting the production in a greater number of supporting fibers.

Ultherapy® also has a patented tissue visualization technology up to 8mm deep (DeepSEE®), which allows the doctor who performs the treatment to visualize the tissue layers being treated, ensuring that this energy is being emitted safe and where it will be most beneficial for treatment.

Who is a candidate?

This treatment is suitable for anyone who presents signs of mild to moderate flaccidity and who does not want to resort to a surgical method or, for those who are looking for preventive treatment.

Some of the most common signs are drooping eyebrows, excess skin on the eyelids, loss of definition of the facial contour and neck, among others. For cases of more advanced flaccidity, surgical lifting remains the most indicated treatment.

How long is the session?

On average, about 30-60 minutes.

Is it painful?

As it is a treatment that generates heat, it is common to experience some discomfort throughout the session. In this way, before the treatment is started, an anesthetic cream is placed in the area to be treated so that the procedure is as comfortable as possible.

After the session you may experience some edema and erythema on the skin that will disappear in a few hours. No recovery time is required and you can resume your daily routine with complete normality immediately after treatment.

Is it safe?

Yes. Rigorous clinical studies and scientific publications, worldwide, ensure its effectiveness and safety. In addition, Ultherapy® is the only non-surgical procedure approved by the FDA with subdermal visualization.

This differentiated feature allows us to detect the appropriate depth of each treatment in order to avoid contact at the bone, vascular level, among other tissues, proving its safety and effectiveness.

How often should it be done?

This treatment is performed only once a year in order to maintain the results obtained.

How long do the results last?

The results are visible right after the session. However, the maximum lifting effect will only be visible after 3 months.
As the collagen formation process continues, improvements in skin quality can be noticeable up to 6 months after treatment.
